Support

The Child Protection Programme offers support and general assistance to the youth work sector through:

Guidance in the development of an organisation’s child protection policy and/or code of behaviour.

The Child Protection Programme can give guidance and support to organisations who are developing or reviewing their child protection policies and procedures. This can be offered through a policy review or a training programme. All child protection policies must be based on Children First; National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children (PDF)

 

Guidance in the development of good recruitment practices in an organisation:

The Child Protection Programme can give advice, support and training to an organisation on best practice in developing safe recruitment procedures and systems, including Garda vetting.

Guidance in the development of safe practices in an organisation.
 

The Child Protection Programme can offer guidance to volunteers, youth leaders, managers and members of board of management in developing safe practice while working with young people. The Child Protection Programme advocates on behalf of the youth work sector through:

  • Consultation with the youth work sector on child protection issues
  • The development of key advocacy positions that may impact on the effective running of youth  organisations.
  • Making submissions to relevant parties on related topics such as NYCI Submissions on the National Vetting Bureau Bill and the Constitutional Amendment on Children.
